The research on this website could not be possible without the abundant amount of information that has now been added to various internet databases. For better or for worse, we have become an information based society- and the important point for me in this case is to ensure that the culture does not get lost in this ubiquity of facts and figures. The stories of families, and the myth, still have the potential to bring us together through our imaginations.

While some of this information I have used is readily available through National archives, museums and libraries, others are user-pay.
